Dear Travel Junkies:
You’ll love every minute you spend in Los Cabos whether you’re tanning or walking along the secluded beaches in Cabo San Lucas, enjoying the 5-star cuisine, playing golf on their best courses, or discovering the beautiful cultural heritage of their cities. To maximize your time well spent in Los Cabos, I will include as much as I can to make it much easier to plan your very own getaway.
Los Cabos is located at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, in the state of Baja California Sur. Los Cabos refers to the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. It is a subtropical desert so it can reach as high as in the 30s Celsius during the summer and drop to the 10s Celsius during winter evenings with daytime highs near 25C. Hence, it was warm to hot during the daytime dropping to a low ~15C in the evenings around this time in the winter. So pack a couple of light sweaters with you if you plan to go around this season.
What to do:
El Arco de Cabo San Lucas A signature icon of Los Cabos, a limestone arch carved by nature over time into the sea. Take a cruise by day or sunset for views of El Arco from the water and look out for sea lions basking on the shore. Cactus ATV Tours This was recommended to us by our Sunwing representative. Everyone was coupled up per ATV excluding my boyfriend and I. I love to drive and the thought of driving fast thrills me so I got my own ATV and I don’t regret it one bit. Our tour ventured out through the sand dunes, the hills, and the beach. We drove up and down the beach coastlines and around in cirlces in the dirt pitt. It was a crazy thrilling experience and I’d do it all over again. The ATV’s were in great condition, the guides were fun and knowledgeable. I recommend this excursion to everyone, it’s fun and safe with common sense! lol
Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) Bring a towel, swimwear and sunblock and bask yourself with your significant other on this quiet calm beach surrounded by extraordinary rock formations next to El Arco.
Divorce Beach On the other side of Lover’s Beach, we have the “Divorce Beach”. It’s on the Pacific side of the arch and the water can be dangerous with rip tides, undertows and rough waves.
The Marina Flea market by the water. I didn’t buy anything because it’s all the same souvenirs you’ll find whenever you go. However it’s worth walking around to have a look and see the marina. Also, it will be surrounded by many fancy boats and yachts
Luxury Avenue For those dying to shop for labels, Luxury Avenue has what you are looking for. I don’t know if it is any cheaper or more expensive in these stores but I kept my wallet in my bag and resisted to walk into the boutiques.
Puerto Paraiso Dining, shopping and entertainment plaza. Selection of stores were very limited so we didn’t spend much time in there. Still good to look around to know and say we’ve been inside.
Golfing Play golf on some of the world’s best championship courses like the Querencia Golf Club, Cabo de Sol Golf Club – Desert and Ocean Course, etc.
Nightlife There are many clubs in the city center of Cabo San Lucas with more at the Marina like Barometro, Cabo Wabo Cantina, El Squid Roe, Hard Rock Cafe, Pink Kitty, and The Giggling Marlin Bar & Grille.
The Mexicans call this rock formation the “Scooby Doo”
The city center
Luxury Avenue shopping mall
My very own ATV
Nothing better then riding around the beach
Where we stayed:
My boyfriend and I stayed at the 5-star all-inclusive Barceló Los Cabos Palace Deluxe located in an exclusive area of San Jose del Cabo on the beach. It was a 5 minute walk to the local Mega Commercial Plaza. In case you forgot to pack your toothbrush, shampoo or undergarments, you find most of what you need in the Mega superstore right outside your resort. In addition, the resort is approx 10 mins from the city center and 20 mins from the airport provided by the resort for free.
We had an amazing time with our stay. The resort was fairly new when we vacationed there. Our room overlooked the pools, the room was always kept clean and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the idea of the open shutter from the showers to the bedroom, it was a cool concept. The staff were all excellent and always greeted us with a big smile. We went to all of the a-la-carte restaurants which were all pretty good. We would recommend this place and would go again in the future.
